When Life Has Other Plans

Lately, I’ve been reminded—far more vividly than I would have wished—just how quickly the circumstances of our lives can change.

A devastating loss. An unexpected diagnosis. A professional relationship suddenly gone. A natural disaster that upends the security of home. There is the life we thought we were living, and then, sometimes in an instant, there is the life we have now.

It’s made me think deeply about the fragility of the lives we so carefully construct—and what it means to live with an awareness of that fragility without living in fear of it.

This article is about presence, resilience, sovereignty, and perhaps most of all, remembering to value what is still here while it is here.
